ONE PIECE Analysis! – Hypothesis That Enel and Imu Might Become Allies in the Future!

Enel is one of the strongest characters in ONE PIECE. Although he was defeated by the protagonist, Luffy, and is currently in the ancient city on the moon, there is a high possibility that Enel will reappear in ONE PIECE in the future.

In this context, I want to boldly predict what kind of developments could be depicted in ONE PIECE if Enel returns to Earth. Basically, this is a speculative prediction, so please take it with a grain of salt.

As the article title already spoils, the conclusion of my prediction is that “Enel will join forces with Imu.” Why is it possible that Enel could become an ally of Imu?

The Despairing Development of Enel and Imu Forming a Tag Team

Although there is no solid evidence, it seems that Enel and Imu have many “common points.”

For instance, both are powerful rulers. Enel ruled the sky, and Imu rules the land. Of course, in terms of the extent of control, Imu is overwhelmingly superior, but as already analyzed, Enel is one of the most extraordinarily powerful characters in ONE PIECE.

Furthermore, they both share a common hatred for the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates, Luffy. Both have strong dictatorial tendencies and seem unlikely to get along, but if they have a “common goal,” it wouldn’t be strange for the story to depict Enel and Imu forming a tag team.

Imu has been manipulating the dark history known as the “Void Century” from behind the scenes, and Luffy, who belongs to the Family of D, is a rebel against history itself. On the other hand, Enel’s only natural enemy in the world is the rubber man. If he intends to conquer Earth, the most significant enemy to eliminate would be Luffy.

The desperate development of the “ruler of the land” and the “ruler of the sky” forming a tag team could be, conversely, the most fitting climactic development for the final chapters of ONE PIECE.

Why Did Enel Call Himself “God”?

Additionally, Enel’s nickname is “God,” and when combined with the Japanese word “Imu,” it forms a kanji that represents “Buddha,” suggesting a contrasting relationship.

The reason Enel frequently and somewhat unnaturally called himself “God” during the Skypiea arc can now be analyzed as a foreshadowing to highlight his contrast with the final boss of ONE PIECE, Imu.

It was a grand foreshadowing hinting at the ultimate team-up of “God and Buddha.” Of course, a scenario where God (Enel) and Buddha (Imu) fight each other is also possible, but it’s unlikely that the story will introduce such a new element so late in the plot.

Based on the above, if there is a development where God Enel returns to Earth from the moon, it is highly likely that, even if he doesn’t fully become an ally of Imu, they will form a strategic mutual relationship.

Thus, Luffy will be positioned as a hero standing against the gods.
