‘ONE PIECE’ is said to conclude in 2025 or 2026. Various old lady characters appear, such as Big Mum (Charlotte Linlin), Doctor Kureha, and Tsuru (Vice Admiral of the Marines).
Among them is the character Miss Buckin, a little old lady who appeared in the later part of ONE PIECE.
This time, I will thoroughly analyze the “true identity of Miss Buckin.” Appearing towards the end of the story, does Buckin have surprising titles beyond imagination? Was she an extremely beautiful woman in her youth?
Buckin’s real name is “Stussy.”
First, I would like to summarize the “information from her initial appearance.”
Miss Buckin’s real name is Miss Buckingham Stussy. “Miss” in English is a title for unmarried women. Conversely, the title for a married woman is “Mrs.” which is similar. It’s similar to Crocodile‘s “Sir.”
Therefore, strictly speaking, her real name should be Buckingham Stussy. Buckingham is a name of a city and palace in the UK. Stussy is a name of a clothing brand in the US. Both are of English origin, but whether there is any hidden meaning remains unknown.
Even after her real name was revealed, the nickname “Miss Buckin” continues to be used, so this article will also use the name Buckin for convenience.
Initial settings and age of Buckin
Meanwhile, as far as the initial settings of Buckin are concerned, the name Buckingham appears to have been added later. Stussy goes without saying. The character design of the little old lady has not changed from the beginning, but the mystery of this changed real name will be discussed again later.

Buckin’s age is 76. In ONE PIECE, characters close to her age include Silvers Rayleigh (78) of the former Roger Pirates. Big Mum (Charlotte Linlin) is 68, and Kokoro of the Fish-Man tribe is 72, so Buckin is quite an old lady.
Buckin’s height is “68 cm,” which is extremely short, but real humans also shrink in height as they age due to bone deterioration, so she might have had an average height in the past.
Weevil’s Mother? Whitebeard’s Lover?
Next, let’s explain Miss Buckin’s “blood relationships.”
Buckin’s “son” is Edward Weevil. Therefore, Buckin is “Weevil’s mother.” She calls Weevil “my treasure” and appears to adore him, but often hits him without hesitation. Her personality is surprisingly violent.

Weevil was the last former member of the Seven Warlords of the Sea to join after the New World arc, and was strong enough to be a concern even for Admiral “Kizaru” Borsalino of the Marines. They never formed a pirate crew but always acted together, with Buckin semi-leading Weevil.
Buckin was also the “lover” of Whitebeard (Edward Newgate). Hence, Weevil is positioned as “the child born between her and Whitebeard.” However, this is only their self-proclaimed status.
Thus, whether the three of them are truly related by blood is unknown. This mystery will also be discussed later.
“Foreshadowing”: Meeting Whitebeard During the Rocks Pirates Era
Still, as Marco of the former Whitebeard Pirates mentioned, it was understood from the beginning that Miss Buckin and Whitebeard were part of the same pirate crew. It was hard to imagine that Marco, who respected Whitebeard as a father, would lie.

It is confirmed that Buckin was a member of the Rocks Pirates. Given that Whitebeard was also a former member, it seems the two met 38 years ago in the now-defunct crew and developed a romantic relationship. However, it is unclear if Whitebeard was married at that time.
Of course, Buckin’s current appearance is that of a 68 cm tall, diminutive old woman. It’s hard to imagine that Whitebeard, who remained cool even in old age, truly saw Buckin as a romantic interest. Was their romantic relationship a fabrication by Buckin?
Was Young Buckin Beautiful?
However, young Buckin was quite beautiful. The beauty in the upper center is exactly her. The current Buckin also has straight blonde hair. Just like Big Mum, who was once a beauty in her youth despite her current enormous size, Buckin seems to have had a similar constitution.
The image shows a scene where Kurozumi Higurashi, the Clone-Clone Fruit user, uses her ability, and she also replicates Shiki the Golden Lion’s face, another member of the Rocks Pirates. Kurozumi Higurashi is the one who brought Kaidou to Wano Country, and as expected, Kaidou was also a former Rocks Pirate.

Thus, it’s not surprising if Whitebeard had a physical relationship with Buckin nearly 40 years ago. Whitebeard was known for not allowing women on his ship, but this could have been related to his past with Buckin. In reality, Buckin’s personality was utterly “greedy.”
CP0 Stussy Was a Clone of Buckin
Miss Buckin had another surprising secret.
In fact, CP0 agent Stussy was a clone of Miss Buckin. Although their names are the same, both have blonde hair. They also share traits such as regularly wearing a hat.

Therefore, it can be said that Miss Buckin and Stussy are essentially the same person.
This means that while Buckin currently has a strong personality, she might have been kinder in her youth, reflecting her beautiful appearance. Generally, as people age, they tend to lose rationality and their inner child emerges. The difference in personality could be explained by this phenomenon.
Consequently, Buckin has a past as a “clone experiment subject.”
Buckin Was a Scientist Who Stayed at MADS
To be more precise, Buckin was a scientist who “lodged” at MADS.
Technically, the title of scientist was self-proclaimed, but she worked alongside Dr. Vegapunk, Vinsmoke Judge, Caesar Clown, and Queen of the Beast Pirates.
However, given the expression “lodged,” it seems Buckin approached MADS and forcibly settled there. Nevertheless, being affiliated with MADS suggests that Buckin possessed considerable intelligence, even if not to the level of Vegapunk and the others.
During her time at MADS, it appears Buckin was subject to cloning experiments by Vegapunk and others. The first successful clone born from these experiments was the aforementioned Stussy.
In a flashback scene of MADS, there was a “mystery beauty (on the far right)” depicted, which seemed to be Stussy. However, it’s uncertain whether this was Buckin herself in her youth or the clone Stussy.

Interestingly, early concept art of Buckin included a young woman’s face, suggesting that the idea of a “clone human” might have been planned from the start.

Was Son Weevil a Clone of Whitebeard Created by Buckin?
Next, let’s consider the identity of Miss Buckin’s son, Weevil.
In conclusion, I speculate that Weevil is a clone of Whitebeard created by Buckin. As mentioned earlier, Buckin was a self-proclaimed scientist affiliated with MADS. Despite being self-proclaimed, she likely had a considerable understanding of science.
Moreover, Buckin herself was a test subject of cloning technology, resulting in the creation of Stussy, who later joined CP0.
This implies that Buckin had ample opportunity to steal the cloning technology established by Vegapunk and others. Three years after the disbandment of MADS, Buckin likely used this technology to create a clone by herself. This clone is Weevil, who now claims to be Whitebeard’s son.
Buckin Was an Inexperienced Scientist
However, unlike the genius Vegapunk, Buckin was inexperienced as a scientist. Consequently, the clone she created was incomplete. This explains why Weevil’s body is patchwork, and his appearance, personality, and intellect do not resemble Whitebeard’s at all.

Yet, the cloning technology developed by Vegapunk was robust enough that Weevil managed to inherit Whitebeard’s strength.
Therefore, Weevil should carry Whitebeard’s lineage factor. As Whitebeard’s former lover, Buckin would have had easy access to his hair and other materials. Given that they share blonde hair, Buckin’s lineage factor is also likely present in Weevil.
Thus, the expression that Buckin is Weevil’s “biological mother” seems accurate.
Did Buckin Create Weevil to Seize Whitebeard’s Fortune?
What was Buckin’s purpose in creating the clone human, Weevil?
Buckin’s goal was Whitebeard’s enormous wealth. Observing her behavior of restraining Weevil, who sought revenge against Blackbeard (Marshall D. Teach) for killing his father, it seems natural to conclude that Buckin’s goal was simply “money.” There doesn’t appear to be a deeper reason.
ONE PIECE Eiichiro Oda / VIZ Media LLC
Knowing about Whitebeard’s vast treasure from their time in the Rocks Pirates, Buckin devised a plan to seize it. After Rocks D. Xebec’s death 38 years ago, she infiltrated MADS and obtained all the cloning technology by becoming a test subject herself.
Then, 35 years ago, she created the incomplete clone human Weevil… or so I speculate.
